"Do CVV codes affect my processing rate?"
CVV has no bearing on the actual rate a card processes at. Factors such as address, zip code, invoice number (as well as additional lodging prompts like folio #, check-in/check-out date, etc) actually affect the card fees. Of course, one of the biggest fee differences is when a card is present for tap, dip, or swipe versus a card-not-present/e-commerce transactions. Card present transactions ALWAYS yield the lowest rates.
Is CVV code required for online transactions?
This is often a common point of confusion for business owners. CVV, CV2, or other iteration of the card's unique code is primarily a fraud reduction mechanism to determine that a Cardholder is actually in possession of the card used during the transaction. Thus, if a CVV response comes back from the processor as invalid, missing, no match, etc (on the paper receipt or payment gateway response), it is up to the business owner to decide whether or not to continue with the transaction OR request a different card with CVV info available.
Can I use CVV code for multiple online payments?
The Card Associations prohibit any electronic storage or saving of the card code for future use. Easy InnKeeping and GraceSoft are comliant with this requirement, and the CVV code will ONLY be used for an initial payment, and will not be stored for future payments on the same reservation.
